What makes your wedding photography different?
I focus on capturing real moments and lots of them. Couples cherish candid moments above all else. These images are multi-faceted and grow more meaningful each year.
When I shoot a wedding, I capture the kinds of photographs you want with an approach that works for you. While I consider myself an artist I put my clients’ needs first. I’m relaxed and professional and stay in the background so you don’t even know I’m there.
I also have a lot of experience photographing weddings of all sizes, styles and locations. To varying degrees all weddings have their glitches, and with years of experience I’ve learned how to work around the unexpected without missing a beat.
What does a wedding package include?
Besides me as the photographer, most packages include a second photographer (I work with a select group of second shooters that follow my style of photography), high resolution optimized master files, an engagement session (files and proofs not included) and an online web gallery. The Wedding Book is included with an album deposit.
I love your Wedding Books. Tell me more about them.
The coffee-table style Wedding Books are included with album deposits. I edit the book right after the wedding and you get it with the high resolution optimized master files. The beauty of the book is that it is an easy way to showcase your wedding without having to wait to edit a full album. Couples, families and friends are blown away by these books which lets them see the day unfold before their eyes. Click to view sample.
How involved are you in each stage of the photography process?
There is great value in working with one person from start to finish to achieve a continuity of vision. For that reason, I am involved in every step, from the initial meeting to the final album layout.
Do you offer framing services?
Yes, I offer a selection of classic and modern frames, with and without mattes, and canvas prints. You can order prints and frames through me and the items are shipped directly to you.
What is your pricing?
Clients come to me with all types of budgets and requirements. There are many factors that go into pricing a wedding. For this reason it’s best to fill out the information on the Contact form for a quote. For a point of reference, during prime months (May to October) my minimum rate is $4,700 for a 6 hour wedding. A stand-alone engagement session scheduled during the week is $500.
How many weddings do you photograph a year?
I approach my work with love and never want to lose that. To stay fresh, I book no more than twenty weddings per year so I can be hands on through the entire process.
Why do you include an engagement session?
Because it’s a great way for us to get to know each other. Many couples use the engagement photos for the save the date, guest book and thank you cards.
Do you work with a second photographer?
I work with a few very talented second photographers that follow my style of photography. Having a second photographer at a wedding is a great bonus because they capture the action from different angles and are able to photograph the groom and his family during the getting ready time while I’m with the bride and her family. If a wedding is large or in a spread-out venue, it’s always best to have a second photographer.
How many hours of wedding photography are needed?
Full day weddings usually need 8 to 10 hours of photography to cover the still-lifes and getting ready time through to the reception.
How many photos do I receive and are they all color-corrected?
The number of photos depends on the amount of coverage. For an 8-hour wedding, I edit down approx. 3,500 images to 750 color-corrected photos. I shoot RAW files rather than JPEGs so I’m better able to adjust the exposure and refine each image.
Do you offer albums?
Yes, I offer a range of custom-made albums from companies that I’ve worked with for years so I know the quality is exceptional. There are contemporary and classic albums of different sizes depending on your budget and taste. When it comes to design, I work closely with couples to create an album they will love. Do you provide the original files?
Yes, I do. I believe you should have access to your wedding images forever.
Do you offer photo booths?
Yes, if a couple requests it. These pictures are available through an online gallery.
What type of gear do you shoot with?
I use professional Canon digital 35 mm. cameras with tilt shift and fast prime lenses. I bring several cameras and lenses to a wedding for different light conditions, actions and environments.
What percentage of the photos will be in color vs. black and white?
The ratio of b/w to color depends on the couple’s preference. I shoot everything in color and then convert an image to b/w during the post-processing. I love b/w because it has a timeless quality in the tradition of documentary photography. Plus some images just look better in b/w.
How long will it take to get the photos back?
It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to process and edit wedding photos.
